KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
In recent times, MMM Nigeria has gathered a lot of attention from the media that comprises of the Social, Print and Electronic Media. The crux of the matter is that the broadcast media and anti-MMM agents talking about the community know practically nothing about it, neither do they understand her ideology.
And this brings us to some pertinent questions: What exactly is MMM? What does it stand for? How did it start? Who is the Founder? How does it work?
This write up will provide answers to the above questions and more. What is MMM? MMM simply means Mavrodi Mondial Movement. It is a mutual aid social community created to bridge the wide gap between the rich and the poor in the society; it is a community of people having seen the injustice in the world, decided to help one another by donating their SPARE CASH to each other.
The modern MMM started in 2011 in Russia and over the years has a presence in 120 countries and counting with over 200 million participants. MMM Nigeria was established in November 2015, through the sacrifices of some selfless, young and distinguished youths, who despite all odds, fought and are still fighting for the community to be what it is today.
Taking a peak into the life of the founder, it brings to light a simple but extra ordinary man named Sergey Mavrodi, born in 1955 in Moscow, Russia. A brilliant mathematician and programmer. In his quest for knowledge on how to bridge the financial gap between the rich and the poor in the society, having worked for a while as a Software Engineer, he was able to come up with a system where individuals can help each other through freewill donations.
A lot of negative things have been said about the founder of MMM; but the truth is no one is above mistake. And in the quest for knowledge to enhance the way of living of people, premium should not be placed on mistakes, instead, mistakes should be seen as a catalyst that propel one to do more in order to be successful. In the case of Mavrodi, he learnt from his mistake which was why he came up with an enviable platform. No one should be judged by his/her past. If you call him a criminal, I will tell you if justice is truly justice in Nigeria, how many people can we vouch for as non criminals?
MMM Nigeria has over 3 million subscribers, which is a laudable achievement especially in a country where trust is eroded, and an average Nigerian is scared of his/her neighbor. This is because the MMM community is based on 3 powerful pillars which are:
* Gratuitousness
* Reciprocity, and
* Benevolence.
It has helped in fostering unity amongst its participants in Nigeria. As donation made to one another in the community is based on trust and honesty, traits people all over the world claim Nigerians lack.
It is imperative to state here that MMM Nigeria is not in any way in contest with the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or the media. This write up is mainly for clarity and to reiterate the ideology of MMM.
Very soon, the holiday break will be over, and MMM Nigeria will come back with a bang. It will be a case of ?he who laughs last, laughs best?.
